They headed out of the house, Jon feeling very self-conscious. Here she was, naked in public, female, and non-human; what would people think of her? How would they react to seeing a naked harpy-girl out on the street?
As it turned out, they mostly didn't. Not that it stopped Jon from feeling embarassed and exposed, but the general public didn't seem to give her a second thought. Of course, she did attract attention from the various guys they passed, but as many appreciative glances as she got, there wasn't a lot of leering; maybe seeing a harpy topless wasn't a big deal to them, since harpies couldn't wear clothes anyway. It was still pretty uncomfortable for her, though, and she tried to keep her focus on walking to the mall as briskly as she could with her new legs.
Karyn, meanwhile, flitted along beside her, casually flitting around to view her from different angles. "Hm," she noted, "that's different."
"What" Jon asked.
"Your breasts. They're not moving like they ought to."
Jon frowned. "Like I'd know?"
Karyn shrugged. "I dunno. At any rate, they should be flopping and bouncing all over the place, but they're not. They're acting almost like they're being held by the bra you aren't wearing. Some sort of muscle layer under your skin or something, maybe. We'll have to check the encyclopedia when we get back."
Jon shrugged. "Huh. Okay."
Karyn sighed. "Oh come on, you could at least pretend to be interested!"
Jon shook her head. "Actually," she said, "I'm trying to think about it as little as possible until the week is over."
Karyn put her hands on her hips, hovering, exasperated, in front of Jon's face. "Come on! Aren't you the least bit curious what this is like?"
Jon shrugged. "Not really." Karyn groaned, and they passed the rest of the trip in slightly irritated silence.
By the time they arrived at the mall, both their moods had improved a bit. Karyn realized that it was understandable for Jon to be uncomfortable like this, and simply hoped that she'd be comfortable enough to be interested in her new body before the end of the week, and Jon kind of understood where Karyn was coming from, even though she wasn't excited about the prospect of a week as a harpy-girl. "Well," Karyn asked, "where to now?"
Jon shrugged. "How about the arcade?"
Karyn smiled. "I had a feeling you'd say that. Think you can handle it with no hands?"
Jon grinned, looking excited for the first time since her transformation. "Probably better than you can handle it with a two-inch armspan."
Karyn laughed. "You're on!"
