Jon blinked and frowned. He had this creepy feeling all of the sudden. As if something had happened. But everything seemed the same. He looked at Karyn. She'd trailed off, as if she'd sensed something too. "I just got this weird feeling...that something has changed."
"Me too," Karyn said.
They began to look around. Karyn looked at him, frowning. "You look a bit different," she said. He looked down at himself. He looked, well, neater. He wasn't a slob, but, he looked like he'd put in more effort than he normally did. "You look like you got a haircut too."
"Why would anyone wish I got a haircut?" Jon asked.
A girl walked up to them. Jon didn't recognize her. There were a lot of girls in school, and he didn't know them all by name, or well, but he would have noticed this one. She had a great smile, which was directed squarely at him. "Are you looking forward to tonight?"
"Umm...umm..." Jon said.
"Yes," Karyn told her. "He is." She pinched Jon. He was staring.
The girl looked at her oddly, then back at Jon. "What's wrong?" She asked. "You're staring at me."
"You're just...just..." he trailed off.
She blushed, a reason coming into her mind. "Oh, Jon...you goof." She leaned in and gave him a kiss, which Jon hardly resisted. "Next time you want to tell your girlfriend you think she's beautiful, you don't have to stare like that. I thought something was wrong." She smiled. "I'll see you at seven for our date," she said walking away.
Jon stared after her, visibly flushed. "Karyn...that's, well..." he stumbled.
"Woah, down Jon-boy, " Karyn said. "I've never seen her before in my life. This is because of whatever someone wished for."
"But, wishes can't be reversed," he said, looking after the girl. "And why would they wish for her?"
"Maybe to distract you," Karyn said. "So you'll forget to look for the stone."
"But..."
"Yeah, well.." Karyn said. She doubted she wouldn't be a bit flustered if some hot boy appeared as her boyfriend. Although it did annoy her a bit that Jon was. "What are you going to do? You have no idea who she is. How can you even pick her up for your date? And do you really think you can fake it?"
Jon looked at her. "What choice do I have? I don't think I can tell her the truth."
