Curled up in bed, having faked an illness after his teacher suggested it, with his mother only a phone call away at work and Mrs. Nelson across the street looking in on him, Mikey palmed the rock and made a wish.
He decided to take Jon's advice. "I wish that Karyn would remember what things were like before my wish, like I do. And that she'd come to help me figure out how to fix things."
It glowed, indicating the wish had been granted. He sat back to wait.
