"Hurry up, Karyn," Sarah said. "I see them."
She increased her speed. Sarah caught up with the Goths outside Hot Topic.
"What the fuck do you want?" Zoe asked, seeing the angry look on Sarah's face.
"Did you take something from my room?"
"What the fuck do you have that I might want?" Zoe asked.
"Yes or no, you little freak?!" Sarah said, viciously.
"Fuck you, Sarah. I didn't take anything from your room and I don't want to. So go take your girlfriend and get out of my face."
Athena was looking at Sarah and frowning. Something was off, and she couldn't figure out what it was. But she had this unsettling feeling.
Sarah stormed off without her friend. Karyn looked very confused. She went over to Zoe. "What's missing is something from your grandfather," she said.
Zoe looked a bit...guilty, but then it vanished. She might be antisocial, and ill-tempered, but Sarah looked like he was having a major conniption about whatever their grandfather gave him.
Karyn knew better. Why was Sarah acting like such a bastard? She hoped it was because he was so worried about the stone being in wrong hands. But he'd stormed off and forgotten her.
"Something is wrong," Athena said. Zoe, Zelda, and Karyn all looked at her.
"What?" Zelda asked.
"I don't know. But I have this bad feeling." She looked at Karyn. "Come on, we've got to go," she told the other Goths, and urged them away, leaving Karyn alone.
She sat on a bench nearby, confused. Athena was into the occult. Maybe whoever had the stone had wished Sarah would start acting this way. But then she wouldn't remember it, would she? Hopefully, it was just Sarah freaking out, and her best friend would be back to normal soon.
She didn't notice when someone sat down next to her. "Are you all right?"
