As Amber took a moment to collect herself, she scanned over her class and counted herself lucky. Not only did she end up with more A students than all but two other fourth grade teachers, but by random draw she had gotten the twenty-nine student class, when all other teachers had thirty students. It was a bit odd, though, that the lone empty desk in her classrooom was right in the middle, right between Ted and Fred. What a contrast, Amber thought, Ted was a monster of a kid, looking like he belonged in a high school, or at least in a middle school, while Fred was a total pansy of a boy. He was girlier than most of the girls.
Amber sighed and began the day's lesson.
