Oh, if only Karyn -- Cateline? No, Karyn -- was here, she was always good to bounce ideas off of. The Necklace of Infinite Possibilities glowed on Nina's neck. Something was about to happen.
Nina looked up and found herself in a different bedroom. A familiar one. This was Karyn's room. A synapse fired from her Nina memories to her Jon memories and back: I need to change clothes. Karyn has clothes that would better fit me. I'm going to borrow Karyn's clothes.
Nina filed through Karyn's closet, declining option after option. She'd never noticed -- Jon had never noticed, probably never cared -- but Karyn didn't tend to put much effort into her wardrobe. The pickings were slim.
Eventually, Nina settled on white leggings and a striped green-on-white tunic top. She borrowed a pair of cute sandals, and some underwear too. It was slightly ill-fitting, but it worked.
Just had finished changing and was tossing Jon's clothes into the laundry hamper, a knock came on the bedroom door.
"Karyn?" It was Karyn's mom. "Are you in there?"
Nina could feel panic rising in her. What would happen if she was caught in Karyn's room? What could she do? The necklace began to glow, but who knew what solution it would find.
