Scott had definitely shrunk. But soon the change stopped; he was barely even an inch shorter--the same height as his mother. Then he felt other changes taking place. Something was growing on his chest... no, it was a part of his chest that was growing, rubbing against his shirt. His breasts! And he felt a pressure in his stomach, which was expanding. If this continued, then soon instead of being too large because of his height, the shirt would be too small because of his body shape. Quickly he removed it and loosened his pants. Not only that, Scott realized he felt oddly full and slightly nauseous. And he felt something inside his stomach move. Was he sick?

He tried to bend down to pick up the shirt and was barely able to. He looked at it again. Perhaps he did see that somewhere... but where?

Turning his attention to the mirror, he saw that his stomach was larger, and his face had changed further. He looked a lot like his mother, but younger. He must be changing into her, but changing into her from many years ago--the time she had last worn the shirt.

And by now, he had realized that not only had he changed into his mother, he was pregnant. Very pregnant. And the medallion didn't work on pregnant women, either, so he couldn't possibly change back.

Scott waddled over to his parents' room and dug through their drawers to find an old family album. He turned the pages past Christmas parties, birthdays, and others to find the section with his old baby pictures in it. At the very start of that section, just before the first actual baby picture of himself (labelled 'Scott: 1 day old'), was a picture of his mother, wearing the same red shirt he had used the medallion on. Someone had drawn an arrow on the picture pointing to his mother's pregnant stomach and written in 'Scott: negative 1 day old'.

A picture that was exactly what he looked like right now.

He wasn't in labor--at least he didn't think he was in labor. But if labor takes about a day, and it was about a day until birth, he knew it could start at any moment. And what would he tell his parents, "Mom, it's me, and I'm giving birth to myself"?
