"Go out with me."
Jon looked at her. "Are you serious?"
"I guess you're my type..." she shrugged.
Jay giggled a bit. Both of them turned. They'd forgotten he was still there. "This is just like...so weird on so many level," he said.
Nicole looked at him. "This is sort of a private conversation."
"All of us...what our bodies find attractive has changed. I mean...I think you're really hot," he said. "And you think Jon is...and would you have before if he looked like this?"
"I guess not," Nicole said. "But that was then. This is now." He turned back to Jon. "One date. Whole night. I'll be a perfect lady."
Jon looked like he wanted to slap her. But didn't. "And after that, you'll give me back my grandfather's gift...and you'll leave me alone?"
"If that's what you want," Nicole agreed. "You even have a witness."
"Can I go now then? Without you as my shadow?" Jon asked.
"Fine. See you at lunch," she grinned. "You're welcome to sit with me if you'd like."
Jon sighed, looked at Jay, who seemed oddly bubbly, considering. He was about to ask something when the bell rang, indicating the end of first period.
