"How about we just go back to your place?", you suggested. You had been to Chloe's plenty of times before, and was close with her family, but now you were curious about just what had changed in her life.
"Good idea, Jason. I'll just tell my other half to come home once her shift ends." She paused for a few seconds. "Okay, she's got the information. Let's go"
"Wait, how does she know?" you asked, following her to the bus depot outside.
"Because I communicated telepathically with her. Duh!" she said, in a matter-of-fact tone. "We've been over this before, I know my condition is weird, but surely you're accustomed to it by now?"
The bus trip was like no other bus trip to Chloe's, however. The first thing you noticed was that she paid half price for her ticket...well, she was half a person at this point. The second thing you noticed was that she was quick to place her lone arm and her half-head on your shoulders.
"Uh, Chloe? You seem more affectionate towards me than normal."
"Yeah, I know."
"But wouldn't Brandon get jealous?"
Right-Chloe sighed. "Brandon and I broke up yesterday."
"Oh. Sorry to hear that. Did it have anything to do with your powers or something?"
"Not really. It's a lot more complicated and personal than that."
"Well...just know that I'm here for you."
Right-Chloe looked up and smiled.
"Thanks. That means a lot."
