The next week was a very unusual one for those who knew what had happened to Jon and Ashley. Ashley felt right at home in her new body, and she marvelled in it constantly. Jon, on the other hand, had to work to adjust to his new body. During the first month in that body, he hadn't expected it to be permenant, and never gave it much thought. Now he was stuck with this body, and the differences really began to sink in for him.
And although she hadn't been affected by a wish, Karyn was having just as strange a week as the other two. Something just didn't seem right, but she couldn't figure out what it was. Finally, as Friday approached, she figured it out. She knew the old Jon, and he never would have made a mistake like that one. Maybe in some parallel universe, but definitely not this one. And Jon had wished for Ashley to have intelligence equal to his own. So why would the new Jon make a mistake like this one when the old Jon wouldn't have? Karyn decided to get to the bottom of it, and she found her chance while talking to Ashley on the phone that night.
"Hey, Ashley?" she asked. "Do you think I could borrow the rock this weekend? I think I'm ready to try wishing off this hair and these boobs."
"Sure," replied Ashley. "I'll give it to you at school tomorrow. Just be careful with it. We both know what can happen with a careless wish."
By the time Karyn arrived at home on Friday, she had come up with the perfect wishes. "First, I wish that my wish for long blonde hair and big boobs was temporary." Karyn instantly returned from having long, straight blonde hair and large D-cup breasts to having short, curly red hair and breasts that were a large A-cup at best. Something still didn't feel quite right, so she decided to adjust her wishes to halfway. "I wish that my hair was shoulder-length and straight and that my breasts were a small C-cup." Satisfied with herself, Karyn moved on to her real motive for borrowing the stone. "I wish I had a sheet of paper with all of the wishes Ashley has made on this stone since she left her body as Jon." As Karyn read down the list, there weren't any wishes that really surprised her, until she neared the bottom. "Jeez...this is some heavy stuff... I almost wish..."
