Laura found an old push button light switch and tried it. To her surprise again, the chandelier in the room lit up.
"How are you doing that?" James said.
"Magic, dear...." she said, a bit sarcastically. "It doesn't hurt to try... it has paid off twice now."
"Maybe you should look for a working phone," James said.
Cindy looked at her brother. "This place is scary."
Surprisingly, Jeremy didn't give her a hard time. The place was pretty creepy. He pulled a sheet off of what looked like a couch. "This place doesn't look like it's been abandoned for that long," he commented. It looked more like someone had left on vacation. He sat down on it.
"Something is definitely strange here," his father agreed.
Laura looked at him. "We've hit a lucky break," she said. "Let's just get through tonight...hopefully we'll be able to find a service station in the morning."
"Mommy, I've got to go to the bathroom," Cindy said.
"This place must have a bathroom," Laura remarked.
"But the plumbing probably isn't working," James said.
"Does it matter?" Laura said. "She has to go regardless."
James sighed and took his daughter's hand. "Come on...let's go find a bathroom. You two stay here."
