Lauren moved forward as a hundred things went through her mind. Could she do this? Was she good enough? Would nobody find out about that she was now inside Ms. Tran's body? Lauren wanted to chew her fingernails as usual but as she looked down she saw meticously taken care of nails. Ms. Tran would probably never chew her fingernails. And that's who she was, Ms. Tran.
Lauren stood in front of the science classroom. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath of air. She could do this, she would do this. Opening her eyes again she opened the door and stepped inside the classroom.
Inside she saw the student sitting already. Most of them talking with each other while while a few were throwing pieces of paper to each other. It was a mess. Now how did Ms. Tran do it?
"Quiet down please." Lauren said as she was amazed by the volume of her voice. Immediately all the eyes were drawn to her presence and everyone stopped speaking. Most people were afraid of dealing with Ms. Tran. Something that would come in handy now.
"Allright. Let's see." Lauren grabbed up the lesson plan for this hour. She could kiss Ms. Tran in a manner of speaking as she saw what was written there. "We, I, I mean you have a pop quiz."
Lauren could hear a deep sigh coming from the students with some students complaining loudly.
"Quiet!" Lauren commanded. "Now I'm going to hand it over and you have an hour to make it." Lauren grabbed the papers and gave every student one of them. She was surprised when the last student she had to give was Jake. He smiled at her when she handed him his test and Lauren could feel butterflies in her stomach. She quickly gave a smile back and returned to her seat.
"Now go!" Lauren told them and the students were off writing as much as they could.
It gave Lauren some time to come to terms with her current situation. In all the haste she didn't even have the time to check herself out. Lauren noticed Ms. Tran's purse lying on the desk. She grabbed it and looked through. Nothing much special, some chewing gum, her drivers license and a compact. Lauren grabbed hold of the compact and opened it. It felt really odd to see Ms. Tran's face looking back at her. It felt like she was wearing a mask or some sort. Touching her face she was confused by all of this. Was she supposed to be stuck looking like this all the time? Would she and Jake ever end up together?
At that moment she saw some of the students staring at her. Ms. Tran never looked that much at herself so she quickly closed the compact and just stared at the students to make sure none of them were cheating. When the hour was finally finished all the students handed in their tests some more hopeful than others. When Jake handed in his one Lauren knew he flunked it. Last night they were a little too busy to make out instead of concentrating on their homework. She smiled at the memory: it looked so long ago.
But now she was here alone in the science classroom. Ms. Tran probably would get over to her as soon as possible. What to do in the meantime?
