Mary turned to Joseph, "Before we get started, do you think you could go grab me a drink? I totally forgot my soda back at my place."

"Sure Mary, 'your place.'" he replied with air quotes, chuckling. "What would you like?"

"Water is fine."

Joseph started moving to the door and asked, "Hey Karyn, do you want anything too?"

Karyn was in her own little world starting out the window.

Mary waved her hand in her friend's face. "Earth to Karyn."

The blonde eased out of her trance and saw Joseph in the doorway looking inquisitive, "Can I get you anything to drink?"

"Huh? Oh. No thanks, I'm fine." She replied.

After Joseph disappeared into the hallway, Karyn went back to staring out the window.

Mary was wondering what was so interesting outside so she had a look herself. The only thing of interest was Josephs shiny new car.

"Can I borrow the stone?" asked Karyn.

"Why? What are you going to wish?"

Karyn turned to Mary, "I've got an idea, just trust me." She held out her hand.
Mary then fished the out of her jeans' pocket and cautiously handed it to Karyn.

Karyn took the stone, looked again out the window for a moment, then closed her eyes and began her wish. "I wish, that whenever Joseph makes a wish, it would be granted to me instead of him."

"What the hell?!" Mary shouted and snatched back the stone. "How is that going to help this situation in ANY way?"

"Well, I figured that since we know what's going on and have full recollection of the wishes he is making, we might have a little more control over the outcome of his wishes." She looked down to the street again. "And I get a sweet new ride the next time he wishes for a car."

"How does that make any sense at all? If anything, we have even less control of the situation now! And why would he wish for a new car? He's already got a nice new car. Besides, we have the wishing stone, you could just wish for a new car yourself!"

"Well at least this way he can't figure out what's going on since after we leave, most of the wishes won't be happening around him. He won't go crazy wondering how all the weirdness around him is happening."

Before Mary could figure out a way to fix this new problem, she was made aware of Joseph's new wish. She looked to Karyn, her body feeling flush. "Well, shit."

Karyn wore an expression of shock and guilt. She covered her hand with her month, "Oops."
