"I wish I had a hundred more wishes. It's the same thing I wish for every year," Joseph said proudly, as if he had just beat the system of birthday wishes."
Jon's mind went numb as he felt the rock in his pocket heat up; that wish counted. "Oh, that's nice. Actually, there's something I need to tell you. Your wish..." Jon wanted to tell Joseph the truth about the wishes, but something stopped him.
"You alright man?" Joseph asked, looking a little concerned because Jon stopped talking in mid sentence.
"Yeah, I just need to make a quick call. Be right back."
"Again? Fine, I'll start eating the cake. It looks pretty good."
Jon got up and walked a few feet away, out of listening distance. He took out his phone, but he really was making a wish on the rock. "I wish I knew why I can't tell Joseph about his wishes."
A small voice in the back of his head said, "You are forbidden of interfering with Joseph's wishes. He needs to make his wishes without anybody influencing him."
"That doesn't make any sense. Oh well, I wish Joseph would forgot the wish he made after he said it." That way, he'll still notice the change, he'll just forget it came from him.
Jon sat back down and cut a piece of cake. This will be a very interesting day.
