Jon -- now Hitomi -- felt reality warp and shift again around him -- now her -- and the next thing she knew, she was untying her bikini top and Joe was kissing her lightly on her breasts, and from there, it was more or less a blur of pleasure until Joe came inside of her. As she pulled her bikini bottoms back on, she couldn't help but hear a conversation taking place nearby between a little boy who had paused in his work building a sand castle and a man she assumed was his father, kneeling next to him. The father was explaining in a low voice, "They were having sex. Remember how I told you that's what Mommy and I do sometimes, and other people who love each other do it, too? Sometimes people like to do it when other people are around."
The boy was, of course, talking a little too loud. "So they're going to make a baby?"
His father shook his head. "No, just because you have sex doesn't mean there's always going to be a baby. In fact, she probably took something called the Superpill, so she can't have a baby unless she takes another pill to temporarily reverse it."
And Hitomi realized that, yes, she had a vague memory of a doctor's appointment shortly after she'd had her first period, and there she had been given the Superpill, which basically shut down her menstrual cycle, plus there was something about curing sexually transmitted diseases -- and she'd realized that Joe probably hadn't had any condoms with him when he had wished that they could have sex on the beach, so the wish had reimagined the world such that they wouldn't have any problems whatsoever.
"When do you think I'll get to have sex?" the boy asked.
His father said, "For the first time? Probably when you're 13 or 14."
"Well, I wish I could have lots of sex!" proclaimed the boy.
"So do I, son, so do I," said his father. "Come on, let's go get some ice cream."
Hitomi realized that Joe had his arm around her. "Did you hear that? Wasn't that adorable?"
"Sure," she said.
"I hope that kid gets his wish, and I hope he gets to do it with someone like you," said Joe, smiling. "When you're around, you make all my dreams and all my wishes come true. I'd like everyone to know how great that feels. I wish you made wishes come true for everyone around you."
Hitomi smiled, moved to kiss Joe, and then realized that Joe had just made his third wish.
