John and Joseph pulled into the parking lot of Ed's Cafe, a local, independently owned restaurant that was a popular spot for the high school kids.
As usual, the place was pretty busy so John and Joseph had to get into a small line that started at the door. The two started to talk while they waited patiently to get their trays of food.
"I wonder if I could get a free piece of cake or some ice cream if I told them it was my birthday," mused Joseph.
"Maybe you should ask them. I just hope that we get through eating before we have to go back to class," said John. He was thinking about getting him to wish for that free piece of cake but he wanted to be very careful about what he got Joseph to wish for.
"Yeah, this line is killing me. I mean, how hard is it to get a tray and then put the plates of food that you want to buy on the tray. It shouldn't be taking this long. Man, I wish...."
