Throughout the day, Meagan noticed that there were a lot of tomboyish girls around, more than there were before, anyway.
Meagan wasn't big on imagination, but her mind reeled anyway. Was it hypnosis? Were they brainwashed to act this way? How could Sarah not remember me? I'm her best friend. How could all this happen?
After school was over, Meagan followed Sarah, to see where she'd go. And was surprised when she saw her meeting with those two losers: Jen and Karyn.
"Why is she meeting with them?" she whispered to herself. She inched closer to get a better look and maybe even to hear what they were talking about.
"What do you two losers want?" asked Sarah.
"Well, her personality hasn't totally changed," Jen said to Karyn, ignoring Sarah's question.
"Hey! I'm talking to you."
"Maybe we should use the stone on her," Jen said, still ignoring Sarah.
"Zoe said it wasn't a good idea. But, we are talking about Sarah."
"What are you two smiling about?" Sarah asked.
From further away, Meagan watched Jen pull something out of her schoolbag and hold it in her hand. She said something and then the stone flashed, like it was a flashlight going off. It was amazing. She had never seen anything like it. Then, Sarah's attitude changed. She wasn't yelling at them anymore. In fact, she was laughing. Not laughing at them, but laughing with them. They acted like they were friends.
Meagan thought about that thing that Jen had. Could Jen have brainwashed Sarah with that thing? She had to investigate further. And maybe she could even steal it way from them.
