Jon realized how the stone worked. Kevin couldn't be upset about being suddenly turned into a girl because he hadn't heard the wish, so he would think it was like that all along.
"Kevin?" he asked.
"Jon? How did you... Oh, damn. I left the door unlocked. Jon, please, you have to not tell anyone! I don't have any choice but to trust you now, but you can't let anyone else know! I've been disguised as a boy for years and you're the first who ever found out! Please, Jon..."
"All right, Kevin. You can trust me not to tell anyone you're really a girl. Kevin, why are you crying?"
"Because you... you..."
"What?"
"Jon, because I love you! And we've been on this trip so close together and I can't even..."
"Kevin, I don't know what to say. To find out that you're a girl, and now this. God, I don't know what I should even do. Maybe I can help you with another wish?"
"Wish? What are you talking about?"
"Never mind." Jon wondered exactly what he could wish. The stone seemed to let him get rid of his condition by pushing it onto Kevin, but since he made a wish to do that he couldn't just push it onto a third person... or could he? Was there something he could do other than accept Kevin's confession of love?
