Nick had used the medallion just before 8:00 am, and it was now almost 9:00. One way or another, he figured he would be stuck like this for the day, so he had to plan around that. First, he called his boss to call in sick. This alone might have been a problem, but his boss had met Megan a few times and he liked her, so Nick had no trouble convincing his boss that he was Megan calling in for her boyfriend, who was dreadfully sick with a stomach flu. Nick was pretty sure that the fact that "Megan" had done the calling made it more believable, since his boss knew she wasn't the type to lie about these things.

Next, he sent Megan a text: "Sorry M. Got bad stomach flu last night "“ lots of puke here. Slept some and bit better now but don't want you to catch it. Talk to you later". That should let her stop worrying and keep her out of the picture until this evening.

Next, he got himself something to eat. He still felt a bit queasy, but also hungry, so he downed some dry toast and some cereal. The milk in the cereal tasted so thick to him, and he remembered that Megan always drank skim. How many more of his own tastes will this body not like? Oh well, hopefully by tonight he could be himself again, and only explore these sorts of questions part-time.

He thought about looking this thing up on the internet, but then remembered that he had a line on what was hopefully a better source in information.
