Mike tried now to lift himself up, and managed to stand, wincing a bit as he leaned against the wall. He headed for the bathroom, but one step and he fell forward, catching himself shakily on the doorframe.
Nick sprung over to him. "Are you sure you're OK? I mean, you were out cold... we should go to a hospital, I mean you could have a concussion!"
"No, no, I'm OK, it just hurt more than I expected... I should sit or lie down... "seeing the frown on 'Nikki', he added "If it gets worse over the next few minutes we'll see about that hospital trip."
Nick realized that he was acting like a woman... not trusting him to know his own body, but thought also that maybe Mike was just trying to seem tough in front of the girl he liked... maybe women weren't so off base, he thought. Still, he wouldn't force the issue, but maybe make sure he knew that he didn't have to tough it out for her benefit.
Nick looked about... going to the sitting room meant dealing with those steps, while the bedroom was right here, but wasn't there something about not letting someone with a concussion fall asleep? Or were you supposed to let them sleep?
