I was REALY starting to get concerned by the ways things were starting to go. I mean, it was nice to make Karyn happy. It really was! And being a horse was a bit fun. But not something I was really interested in for the long term. Karyn seemed to be taking things to heart a BIT too much for my piece of mind though Still, she was my best friend. Maybe she was just playing with me .
It was a bit difficult to worry too much about anything as Karyn spurred me on. It was great to feel the wind in my face, blowing through my mane. And I had to be honest Having a pretty girl like Karyn sitting on my back didn't hurt the feeling of elation any.
"Come on Jon, let's see how fast you can go!" She said with a grin, snapping the reigns a bit. I obeyed as best I could, speeding up a bit. IT seems Karyn was right. Her wish HAD supplied some horse trails around the house. Some were straight, some curvy. Some smooth, some rugged. But they were all rather neat and without any gopher holes or sharp rocks or anything else that might endanger a horse riding at full gallop.
Finally, after running for a good while, Karyn pulled back on the reigns a bit. My head got pulled back, and I reflexively slowed, a bit startled at the bit pulled at my mouth.
"Whooooaa boy " Karyn said with a grin as I slowed. "That's a good horsie " she giggled and patted my neck.
"Thanks.. Karyn " I said, panting a bit. "But.. watch it with those reigns They're a bit.. annoying. Could jus have said. . slow down. . you know.." I said, catching my breath.
Karyn frowned a bit, then shrugged and giggled. "Sorry silly. That's just how it's done. Guess I'm just used to it that way." She said without much concern.
"Um.. so I guess it's back to the house for now, so I ca change back and we can look around?" I said a bit hesitantly.
"Uh huh." Karyn replied, grinning. "In a little bit though. Ride's not over yet!" she smiled and patted the side of her saddle, where she'd attached a small bundle. "I thought that maybe, while we're out, we could have a little picnic or something "
"Ohhhh. . a picnic!" I said, feeling pleased. "That'll be nice! But did you bring enough for both of us?" I asked, assuming I would be human for lunch this time around.
"Of course not silly!" she replied with a laugh, patting my side. "They'll be plenty of grass around the picnic site for you!"
I huffed a bit at THAT, nostrils flaring. I was seriously starting to consider voicing my concerns. I wanted to tell her about my worries, but, at the same time, I didn't want to hurt her feelings, or ruin her fun. I decided to give her a BIT more time before I said much.. But just a little. Then we'd really have to talk a bit.
"Let's go Jon!" Karyn said with a giggle, slapping me lightly with her riding crop.
I guessed the talk could and would wait till after the 'picnic '
