Ann blinked in confusion. What had her wish done? She hadn't intended this! Oh well. She thought. I guess I'll just have to be more specific next time. Things still seemed to have turned out all right.
Just then the intercom beeped.
"Yes?" Anne asked politely as she pressed the button.
"Ma'am?" Her new secretary said. "I just thought you'd want to know, the protestors are blocking the front gates again."
"Protestors?!?" Ann asked in surprise. "What protestors??"
"Well, they mostly seem to be form that 'Humans for Humanity' religious group. Though a bunch seem to be some of the people form those little moral societies joining in too. The ASPCA doesn't seem too friendly with the first group though, so they haven't joined in yet." The secretary said matter of factly.
Anne's head reeled. She never expected THIS! "What should we do?" she asked faintly.
"Well, the police have already been notified Ma'am. They should be here before things get ugly between the APSCA and the HfH." Anne breathes a sigh of relief. Thank goodness!
"Oh, by the way, the Chief of Police is on line one, and the Mayor on line two. Neither of them seem too happy. But your publicist called and said that things are going great with all this free publicity, if you can just keep the place open with all the protestors. And those people from National Security called AGAIN. I told them you were unavailable, as usual." The secretary stated, sounding a bit reproving.
"Oh, and there are two gentlemen from the Department of Defense waiting to see you."
AHHHHHH! This is INSANE! What am I going to DO?!? Anne asked herself in shock. She glanced down at the stone still in her hand, then at the door to her office.
