"Whoa " Anne said breathlessly. "Could that have actually WORKED?" She shook her head to clear it and looked around the room. Everything seemed pretty much the same, with the two leopards there, growling a bit and lounging out like normal felines. But there were a few little changes. Things looked a bit newer. Shinier. Better taken care off.
"I'd better go have a look around " Anne murmured to herself, totally forgetting about the two pregnant leopard and their former state of being for the moment. She quickly walked out the door, heading for the administrative offices.
She noticed some changed immediately. For one, her name was off the "Employee of the Month" plaque. Instead it was at the top as "Owner." Anne blinked at that, then grinned, leaving the animal pens for the rest of the zoo.
"It worked. . It really worked " She muttered to herself as she walked, nodding to the occasional employee who waved or greeted here with a cheerful "Hi boss!" or such.
She looked around the zoo in amazement. It was hers. All hers! She'd always dreamed of running her own little zoo and animal-breeding program, taking care of all the species that mankind was greedily pushing towards extinction. And now it was reality!
The zoo actually seemed to look a bit better now that she glanced around. She noticed a few signs proclaiming that the area was "Under New Management." Everything was neat an clean, and if not new looking, then generally up kept to a better level than it had been before.
After seeing all of this, Anne wasn't too surprised when she got to the main offices, and found her name over the door to the head manager's office.
"This is truly incredible!" She said a she lounged back in her plush chair behind her big oak desk. Besides the change of management, everything else about the zoo seemed relatively unchanged. With her in charge, things seemed to have improved slightly, but only slightly.
She grinned hugely as she though out the stone in her pocket and it's power. Things were definitely going to get a LOT better around here. First off, she had a few new powers to test. And a few idiot coworkers to get even with, and a few others to promote. And the zoo would need some more breeding stock .
Totally forgetting the hard lessons Jon and Karyn had learned about being careful with the stone, Anne got to work.
