I watched in shock as the zoo employees tried to help Karyn after she passed on. This was ridiculous! How could things get any WORSE?? My best friend just ended up wishing me PREGNANT with a litter of kittens, I was sitting on the most powerful object in the WORLD, and because I couldn't talk, I couldn't do anything but WATCH! My tail lashed back and forth and I whined, hoping things would be all right.
"Who? Who's Jonni? I... I can't remember " I blinked at Karyn, and my heart sunk. Amnesia? Oh man.. I HAD to ask how things could get worse, didn't I?? I whimpered lowly as my ears flattened against my head
"Jonni you're pet leopard? We were just talking about her almost being ready to give birth to her kittens when you fainted Are you all right ma'am?" One of the employees asked in concern.
Karyn shook her head a bit to clear it, flinching at the sensation, and rubbing the bump on her head. "My. . My pet leopard " She looked towards me again, and recognition flashed in her eyes. I was ready to shout in relief, except that her eyes rolled a bit, and she looked ready to faint again.
"It's.. N.. Not a dream " Karyn said lowly, gasping a bit.
"What was that ma'am?" The man asked, trying to help her to her feet.
"Oh? Nothing, nothing!" Karyn quickly looked around, eyes wide with shock, looking for the stone. She seemed to be getting more and more nervous as she didn't spot it. "Did any of you see if I "
I made a small sound to draw Karyn's attention while she looked, and lifted myself up off my expanded belly a bit, to give her a glimpse of the stone. She sighed in relief at spotting it.
"Did we see what miss?" Another woman asked.
"Oh.. Oh, nothing. Never mind. It's not important." Karyn replied, getting to her feet a bit unsteadily. Um.. I'm okay now. Really. Thanks for your help."
I watched and waited impatiently as Karyn reassured the people around her. I couldn't wait for her to get them OUT of there, so I could slip the stone back, and she could figure out some way to get me out of this mess.
And these kittens kicking around my stomach and poking my ribs really weren't doing much for my mood
