Mikey awoke refreshed the next morning ready for more fun with his Girl Scout troop. He noticed that he was still wearing the clothes that he had been the day before. He must have fallen asleep in them. He was up and halfway through changing into clean clothes by the time that Mrs. Diver stuck her head in the tent to wake him and Diane up. "Oh, Michele. You're up already. Good. Can you wake Diane up and then you two can help Mrs. Reynold get breakfast ready today."

"Yes Mrs. Diver." Mikey answered.

Mikey shook Diane gently to wake her. "Wake up." he said quietly.

Diane grumbled a bit as she sat up rubbing her eyes. She asked "What time is it?"

"I don't know. I don't have a watch. Mrs. Diver said we get to help with Breakfast though so you need to get up."

"Okay. Give me a minute to get dressed." Diane said climbing out of her sleeping bag. Mikey waited impatiently for Diane get dressed then the two girls went to help with making breakfast. They mixed the batter for the pancakes and cracked a bunch of eggs that were then scrambled.

Because they had help make breakfast, Mikey and Diane had a little free time to themselves while the other girls washed the frying pans and the dishes. They were wandering around the camp enjoying the beauty of nature when suddenly Diane stopped and grabbed Mikey's arm pulling him behind a big tree so that nobody from camp could see them.

"Hey!" Mikey exclaimed trying to pull his arm loose from Diane's death grip. "What are you doing?"

"Hush." Diane said. "Be quiet. We don't want to draw a lot of attention."

"What? Why?" Mikey asked more quietly than before.

"Okay. Don't freak out but I think we have a problem." Diane said trying to keep Mikey calm.

Of course telling somebody not to freak out is seldom helpful and in fact will often cause them to start freaking out before they even know what is wrong. Mikey was definitely now worried that something really was wrong. "What's the problem?" Mikey asked somewhat shakily.

"Try to keep calm, okay?" Diane said once again failing to calm the other girl. "I'm going to ask you a question and I don't want you to panic when you answer it."

Mikey was no longer as worried; now he was more annoyed than anything. "Just spit it out already. What is the question that you think is going to cause so much trouble?"

"Okay. Mikey... where is the magic necklace?" Diane asked.

Mikey was confused for a second. He'd been wearing the necklace all weekend except for the few minutes that he's taken it off the first night. But when he reached up to feel around his neck, he couldn't find the necklace. He wasn't wearing it. Not only was he not wearing the necklace, but he was still a girl despite not wearing it.
