"Zoe," yelled Jon, "I need you to come here. Both of you..." Then she whispered, "Mom, please, I have to have my stone back. I may need it when I do this."
"What are you planning to do?"
"Look, Mom... Sherry... I'm not going to do anything dangerous or change people against my will? Please, I need to do it, she's my daughter just like the other one is yours."
Sherry finally gave the stone back to Jon, who yelled out again, "Zoe, now! Both of you!"
The two identical-looking Goth girls came running in. "Have a seat," said Jon. "I need to explain this. This is your grandfather's magic stone," she said, holding up the stone. "There used to be one of you, and I used to be your brother. That's why I'm named Jon."
"Mom?" said one of the Zoes, apparently the one who was Jon's daughter. "What are you talking about?"
"It's a magic stone!" she said. "I'm Jon. I was a teenage guy, like you. Zoe was my sister, Sherry was my Mom."
"Both of us?" asked the other Zoe.
"No, not both of you. Sherry made a wish on this stone by accident, so I became more like her. A lot more like her. There's only supposed to be one of you, Zoe. The other one didn't exist more than a few hours ago. Think of how strange it is for the two of us to have exactly the same daughter, even with the same name.
"Did the interview go really bad?" asked Jon's Zoe.
"No! I'm not tired or disturbed or anything. I knew I'd need this stone to make you believe me. I wish that you'd believe me about this."
"What?" said Jon's Zoe. "So it's true? But I remember my whole life... and there have always been two Zoes in this family! I've always been like this! I don't want to be anything other than Zoe, I don't want to not exist! Mom, am I real? Do you love me?"
"Of course you're real, now," said Jon. "And I love you. You're my daughter, just like the other Zoe is Sherry's daughter. I hated the idea of telling you, but I knew I had to.
"But Mom...."
