Sherry stared at her changed son. Except for his hair, he was still clearly male, but with her height and paler coloring he certainly looked different.
Finally, she managed to speak. "Well I suppose we should go ahead." She grabbed her purse.
"Wait."
She turned back to Jon.
"I...I can't go out like this!" He said, feebly gesturing at his hair, which now looked so much like hers.
"Oh." She hadn't thought about that. "Then I suppose I can look for it myself, unless you have anywhere you'd like to look specifically?" Jon shook his head.
"Alright then. I'll come back around lunch time if I don't find it. Try not to worry, sweety." She said, stepping out the door. Jon didn't reply. That annoyed her, but she didn't press him.
As she dug into her purse for her car keys she froze as she felt something hard, cold, and round. Pulling it out, she found that it was the stone. Gradually, it came to her. She had wished that the stone were somewhere that they wouldn't have to worry about it, so it had just put itself right back in her purse!
She began walking back inside to tell Jon she'd found it, but then hesitated. The stone was very dangerous. If she couldn't use it safely, could she trust Jon to do it? But then, he hadn't gotten into any trouble with it before she found it...
She finally decided that she would simply have to think about it. She wouldn't tell Jon until she came to a decision. He would be worried, but she could reverse her wish for him to be more like her at any time. Besides, it really wasn't that bad being her. He might even learn something from it.
Stuffing the stone back into her purse, she got into her car and began thinking about how she should spend the next few hours.
