"That's not yours to go through!" Lonna said angrily as she walked over to the student who sat in her desk while wearing her clothes.
"I'm trapped in your old body, me going through your purse should be the least of your worries." Lauren said sarcastically.
"I'm not old! I'm only 34." Lonna exclaimed.
"I wish I was back in my own body and life. I don't want to be an old crotchety chemistry teacher." Lauren said.
Lonna was furious. She always knew Lauren was an undisciplined slacker but now she was also rude. "You don't think I want this fixed too? And I'm not old or crotchety!"
Both women stared each other down. If anyone else were there, they would have thought that who they saw as Lauren was about to get into serious trouble.
"I was supposed to go out with my boyfriend tonight and now I can't since I look like this... like you!" Lauren said as she gestured to the clothing she now wore. "Jake wouldn't even recognize me." she said as she began to tear up.
Lauren didn't get a chance to cry as both of the women were interrupted. "There you are. I was looking everywhere for you." a male voice said from the door way.
Lonna turned around and saw that it was Lauren's boyfriend, Jake Adams.
Now that Jake was here, both women needed to figure out what to do. They couldn't tell anyone what happened. If they did, who would believe them? And both Lauren and Lonna still hadn't found out how they switched places in the first place. Reality began to set in for Lauren that this might be longer than a couple hours. She hoped it wasn't permanent. Unbeknownst to both women, the mysterious tiny stone that Lauren had picked up and was now in Lonna's pocket could reverse all of this if they both wished to be each other at the same time.
While Lauren was outright unhappy to be Lonna, Lonna had mixed feelings about being Lauren. Part of her was thrilled to get a break from her stressful life. At 34, Lonna had accomplished many feats but was underwhelmed with how her life turned out. She was still unwed and single. Despite all the professional successes in her life, Lonna had been unable to have the personal life she desired. Now she believed that some divine power gave her the opportunity try out Lauren's more carefree life to learn something. She didn't want to be Lauren forever; maybe a week at most. But she also didn't want Lauren to ruin everything she worked so hard for when it came time to switch back.
"Give us a minute in private please." Lonna told Jake.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know I was interrupting something since the door was open." Jake said apologetically as he backed out and closed the door.
"What are we going to do? I can't go out with Jake looking like you." Lauren said frantically in a hushed voice.
"I'll go out with him and I'll call you later tonight to figure out how to get through tomorrow." Lonna explained.
"That's MY boyfriend and you're a teacher!" Lauren exclaimed
"Right now, he's my boyfriend and you're the chemistry teacher. Since you wanted to be nosy and go through my purse, you can lock up the classroom and go to my apartment. My keys and wallet are inside. I'll call you later tonight after MY date." Lonna explained as she walked over to the door and opened it to an awaiting Jake. "Have a nice day Ms. Tran! I'll see you tomorrow morning." she said to a speechless Lauren.
"This is a total nightmare..." Lauren muttered after both her teacher and boyfriend were out of sight.
