"I wish I had magic powers, and you had the rock," said the newly christened Bambi. With that, the rock started to glow intensely in her hand, and the glow enveloped her as well. As it faded, Jon realized that he now had the rock in his hand.
"Oh, thank God," he said. "I wish --" But no sooner had he gotten those words out than the rock crumbled to dust. He and Karyn both gasped.
"That's too bad," said Bambi. "But it's a good thing I can do magic without the rock now. Like, let's see. I wish --"
Karyn grabbed Bambi's left forearm in her hands and yelled, "I wish you were unable to speak until either Jon or I said so!"
"What the hell?" asked Jon.
Karyn explained, "Maybe she works like the rock now, so you can touch her to get your wish."
Bambi's lower lip quivered as she opened her mouth...
