As Jon pursued his flesh-quest, life went on. Jane's mother, Sonia, returned home to find the front door hanging open. Immediately, she pulled her can of mace out of her purse and searched her home, assuming there had been a break-in. After she checked every room, she didn't see anything out of the ordinary, aside from a strange plant that had seemingly rooted itself in the middle of her daughter's room, and two more plants sitting in the foyer next to two rocks.
'Is this some GreenPeace stunt or something?' wondered Sonia. She picked up the remote and turned on the livingroom TV as she rounded back to the foyer and examined the plants.
"--...ities are shocked as the series of attacks continue," babbled the news reporter, "The list of victims of the man police are dubbing 'Ski-boy' has grown to include five adults, fourteen children, and a dog."
As Sonia bent down and picked up one of the rocks, she mumbled, "Maybe that ski-boy is connected to these plants somehow. I wish I knew."
