Jon tried to calm himself down as he stared in disbelief at the reflection in the mirror. Someone had the stone, and the only someone it could reasonably be was his Mom. He didn't think she could have explicitly wished for what had happened to him, she probably didn't even know what she was doing. He had to get home as quickly as possible to stop her from doing any more damage and undo what had already been done. He only hoped that the wording of her wish had been sufficiently open-ended for him to reverse the effects.
This did bring to light an interesting property of the stone though. Robbie had acted as if he had always been Joanne, which was reasonable as they were both out of earshot of the stone when the wish was made, but thankfully Jon, himself, was quite aware of the changes. That meant that the person directly affected by the wish got to know about it regardless of the range.
Jon sloped off away from Robbie - the last thing he needed was to be hit on by one of his best friends. It was imperative he got home as quickly as possible. Heading out of the mall, Jon tried to block the strange sensations coming from his body. There was no need to deal with that now, he was hoping to be back to normal very soon.
It was only a short walk from the mall back to his house, but when he got there he was in for a big shock: where his house had stood only a few minutes before, there was now a 7-11 convenience store.
"What the hell!?" he exclaimed out loud. Something very odd was going on here!
A thought occurring to him, Jon pulled out his purse from the pocket of his slacks and extracted the ID card. The name on the card was 'Joanne Scott'. He was Karyn's sister! Twins! That made sense now. But if he was Karyn's sister, where was his old house and parents, and more importantly: where was the stone?
