"Holy crap, it worked! How did you do that?"

Karyn glanced down, and was relieved to see that she was back to normal. She smiled. "When you had the wish to remember our wishes, I heard myself say 'God' before 'I wish.' So if it was a prayer, then it was directed at God, rather than the stone, and I was exempt." She was smirking, pleased to have outsmarted the stone.

"Well, good work, then. Any chance you can think of something brilliant like that for me?"

"I'll try, Jon." She twirled her fingers around in her once again short red hair. "But wow, let me tell you, my back feels so much better. I'm sure glad I got that off my chest!"

Jon smiled at her joke. "You want to go watch TV? I'm really tired of starring at this rock, and I'm sick of looking at this rock."

Karyn agreed, so they went downstairs. On the way to the living room, Jon set the rock on the kitchen counter, and then they sat down on the couch together. They found a movie on one of the channels and watched that for a few hours until his mom walked in the door. Karyn glanced over at Jon and winced at how a slight, barely noticable tint of red had begun to creep into Jon's hair. She ignored it for now.

"Honey, I'm only going to be home for a second, and then I've got to get back to the office. I'll probably be home late tonight, so have a good night if I don't see you until tomorrow!"

"Bye, mom! Good luck at work!"

"Thanks, I'll need it." Rushing around the kitchen, Jon's mom didn't notice as she bumped the stone, which slid into her purse which she'd hung around the back of one of the chairs. Hastily gathering up a folder, she grabbed the purse and headed out the door."

"Love you, cya later!" she called out as she headed into the garage.

"You too, bye!" After she'd left, Jon and Karyn watched another movie, and then Karyn went home. Karyn couldn't bring herself to tell her friend about his hair, which was slightly longer and a shade darker, and sticking around made her feel uncomfortable. Once she'd left, Jon microwaved some left overs, played the Diablo II game he'd bought the other day, and then headed for bed.
