Athena knew she had to get out of these clothes. It was essential, she didn't want to spend the rest of her cleaning up a world which had passed her by, she needed her life back. So she put it on the to do list right after scrubbing the bathrooms like her mother had asked.
First she did the dishes. Took out the garbage. Vacuumed the carpets. Did the windows, not because she was asked but because she noticed a few spots that morning and by afternoon she just had to do something about it. Then came the bathrooms.
After the second hour of scrubbing she wiped the mirror to see herself reflected...was that a grey hair? She seemed to be going grey early, her dark hair showing the sliver swaths of grey. Oh No!! The whole day had gotten away from her!! She had to change!! She first put away all her cleaning supplies, and made sure dinner was in the oven.
6 PM. She went up to her quarters...room...her room. Her fingers felt weak as she pulled the string which held the corset in place and would release her from this dress. Slowly she pulled, with much effort, like pulling a child from a womb, the string came free and suddenly so was she. The dress fell off her like months from a calendar. A burst of energy was upon her.
She looked in the mirror, checking the damage. Her initial sprint in the cheer outfit had improved her body some, she was more fit than she ever had been and this was still true, but it only really showed in the nude. Her hair seemed lighter now too, as if a brush of silver had left tracks in it, but instead of looking old and grey it looked like a styled choice and then suddenly she realized they were highlights.
She looked at her closet again...she had a choice to make. She knew what the cheerleader outfit would lead to, the leading of cheers, she knew what her old favorite dress would make her
...but what of the rest? She had many items to choose from and in her closet a black dress shimmered.
