When he got home that evening, Jon knew he had to hide the stone better. After a little thought, he went with something simple: "I wish that nobody but me will find the stone until I want them to." Still feeling nervous about leaving it in the open, he put it in his desk drawer. As it happened, his mother had calmed down somewhat during the day and decided not to try for revenge, so she never even looked for it.
The next two weeks went by quickly. So much had changed that Jon and Karyn were too busy adapting to their newfound closeness, and Jon's mother adapting to the shock of her experience. They talked about wishes they might try, but felt little temptation to actually do any of them, at least... not for a while. Whenever they were together, they held hands, kissed, and whispered romantic things to each other.
One Friday night, Karyn came to Jon's house after school. As they sat on the edge of his bed, she seemed to have something on her mind. "Jon... I think I'm ready to use the stone again. And I know what I want to do with it."
He grinned, squeezing her shoulder. "What would you like?"
