Zoe's mom held it in her hand and said "I wish the rest of the world would become like us." The stone glowed white hot. She made a wish to change the entire world and that caused the stone to glow even brighter than it had ever glowed before.
"Hey, how come he didn't change?" Zoe's mom asked, pointing at Jon.
"It's complicated, Mom."
Jon stared with unbelieving eyes. The whole world is Goth, except for me. I'm the only one left.
Zelda was at the window and asked the others to look outside. "The sun is still up, but it's night time."
They ran outside to look at the sky. The world had definitely changed. There was a solar eclipse. "What's going on? There wasn't supposed to be an eclipse today."
Then a neighbor, Mrs. Thomson, who was some kind of local lawyer or something, but now was a Goth (a Goth lawyer?), said to them "Are all of you alright?"
"What do you mean?" asked Zoe's mom.
"There's an eclipse every day." She went back in her house, giving them strange glances.
"Every day?" Zoe asked. But that made a little bit of sense. They were all pale-skinned (except for Jon). They would have to have little or no contact with the sun. Her mom's wish apparently didn't just change the world's population into Goths, but also the world itself.
Now it was dark and night-like during the day, as well as the night.
What has Zoe's mom done?
