Zoe was about to turn around and go back to crash Sarah's party with Karyn, but someone called out to her. "Zoe!"
She turned back to see who it was and saw that it was her two best friends: Athena and Zelda. They were running up to her.
"Zoe, can you believe what's going on?" Zelda asked.
"Going on with what?"
"With everyone being Goths all of a sudden."
"Wait. You mean you noticed that?"
"Yeah, but everyone else seems to think that it's always been like this," Athena said.
"So, you two weren't affected by the stone," Zoe said to herself.
Zelda overheard and asked "What stone?"
Zoe showed them the stone. "It's a magic wishing stone."
"You mean, you're the one that changed everyone?"
"Well ... yeah. I really didn't think it would be like this, though. Have you seen what happened to the Catholic church?"
"What about it?" Zelda asked.
"Well, Sister Mariam is walking around in this latex nun's uniform and it's not a Catholic church anymore."
"What kind of church is it?"
"Wiccan."
"Really?" Athena was really interested. "Then why is Sister Mariam still there?"
"I think the stone combined both religions. I don't know why, but I think that's what happened."
"Interesting."
"When did you two find out that things changed?" Zoe asked.
"I didn't know, until Athena came to see me," Zelda replied.
"Yeah. I found out when I was at home. I was having another fight with my parents when all of a sudden it was like there was this wave that passed through the house. I really can't explain it any other way. And then within twenty or thirty seconds, my mom and dad turned into Goths. First, their clothing changed, then their skin paled, and then their hair changed, then piercings and tattoos. It was almost like they were totally different people, except they weren't. They were my parents. After the changes, they acted as though they were always that way. I told them I had to go meet someone and I left. I showed Zelda what was going on and then we came here. That's when we saw you."
"I wonder why we remember what it was like before, but not everyone else?" Zelda wondered.
"Maybe it's because we were already Goths. So, the wish didn't apply to us," Zoe said. It was the only thing that made any real sense.
"So, what now?" Zelda asked.
Zoe answered by saying "Well, I was thinking that maybe we could ..."
