"Hmm," said Jon. "When you make a wish, people think things were always like the way you wished it, right?"
"Yeah," answered Karyn.
"So now that I've been changed into a girl, Mom should think I'm one."
"But that doesn't fit," said Karyn. "I wish I knew why Jon's mother didn't think he was a girl."
"What is it?" asked Jon. "The rock did tell you, right?"
"Oh, yes it did. Sarah had wished that your mother would see the room and get upset. If she thought you were a girl all along, she wouldn't have been upset."
"But if that's all, we can change that," said Jon. "The ring didn't have to fix that by making her be upset that I was a boy with girls' clothes. It could have picked another reason for her to be upset, which means I can too. Can I please have the rock back?"
Karyn handed it to Jon, and then Jon said "I wish that Mom does think that I was always a girl, and that she got upset upon seeing my room only because she thought that she heard a prowler there, but there turned out not to be one."
Jon knocked on the door. His (her) mother opened it. "Jane, come on in. You're going to catch pneumonia if you walk out in the rain without an umbrbella!"
Jon and Karyn entered and then Jon instantly turned back into a boy. They went up to the room and opened the door. It was still full of female clothes, but they had no trouble gathering them up, wishing for new male clothes, and magically sending the female clothes to the nearest Goodwill store.
Jon's mother reached for the doorknob, from the outside. As she opened it, she began to speak. "Jane, you got some mail today, I think it was junk mail but.... EEK!" The door was open and she was staring at Jon. "You're not Jane! You look like Jane, but you're a guy!"
Then Jon realized that the wish about his mother thinking he was always a girl, didn't have a limit on it.... Now what could he do?
