Jumping on the turnbuckle, Percy bathed in the praise of the crowd. He had been elevated to crowd favorite overnight. I saw that the crowd was wanting to push him for a world title match because of just how much they loved him. We were doing our jobs if we were giving this reaction to losing. I did not see it personally. I was biased however. The general manager saw it as well. The next week was a 10-man over the top rope battle royale. It was the main event of the night. It was to see who would face the Brawlicia Heavyweight Champion at the upcoming pay-per-view. The number 10 entrant was of course Percy. The crowd went wild. Percy still lost, but he had the fans love and attention. It was clear who had the IT factor. Robbie and Suzie were defending. They both got to face jobbers and squashed them. That was good. I was happy with this. Because people clamored for Percy, they could not keep him off the card. He defended the title already, so he was not keen on doing another. Fair on him. Therefore, it was a 6 man tag. Jamal, Will and I vs. Percy and The Ravagers.

Repeating the stipulation, this tag match had implications for both divisions. We had tornado tag rules. It was no disqualification; falls counted everywhere. We would win anywhere in the arena. The Ravagers were a decent tag team. I certainly did not trust Jamal and Will to face them in a title match. I had my work ahead of me. We had grouped up so that Jamal and Will could not get too far from me. We battled against them together. We used all sorts of weapons. Eventually we got to the stage. I did a piledriver on the metal top of the ramp. Percy was down for the count. The stage was raised 5 feet off the concrete floor. One of The Ravagers was at the edge of the left side of the stage with Jamal and they were duking it out. Jamal was losing. I went over and joined in. He got stunned and we did a tag team move. We chokeslammed him down to the concrete. His head hit the concrete and he was done. "Go down there and pin him." I instructed. Will was being attacked by the other guy. I ran over to bail him out. Will was in a torture rack. I tackled him to the ground. That had freed Will.

Zipping down to the edge, the ref counted the pin. Jamal won us the match. None of us had been on the Fall From Grace PPV. You could not expect to be on every pay-per-view. 5 or 6 slots was all that the Battlefield brand had depending on the particular pay-per-view. Maybe you could if you were a consistent main eventer. The stable's roster was full of jobbers. It was amazing we got the amount of pay-per-view matches we did. This time was because people desperately wanted to see Percy face us. If he had won, this crowd would go ballistic. He was the hero. Now, it was time to destroy that hero. I went to Percy and dragged him to the edge. I got Jamal to come over and we did a double chokeslam down to the concrete. I was not done. I dragged him back up and then Will and I did a double superkick that launched him back down to the concrete. I was still not done. I dragged the broken and utterly defenseless Percy Angelus back up. I had him in a powerbomb position. Will and Jamal were on either side of me. They helped me with throwing him down to the concrete below. It was sick.

11 feet 2 inches of an accelerated drop directly on the back and the back of the head caused massive damage. You could see the blood leaking out of his ears and nose from where we were. He was going to need immediate medical attention. All of the people in the crowd were horrified into the distance. The ref was now willing to raise our arms in victory. That was his professional obligation. He had no choice in the matter here. I let him raise Will and Jamal's hands. Both of them looked conflicted. The crowd rained down enraged boos, slurs and insults towards us. This was the moment that they became heels as well. I got our belts and we posed with them. We were so hated. We didn't win a new championship, so we didn't put on a celebration promo on the next Battlefield. Instead the general manager came out with a very important announcement. Percy was indeed critically injured. So much so, he needed to drop the belt for him to take the time away needed to recover. The title was vacant. This was a great opportunity. There were going to be 7 huge qualifying matches coming up.
