The next day, we loaded everyone up on the cart and hit the roads again. We got back to Mansfield without much of an issue. From time to time, the injured man would come back to consciousness. After moaning and groaning for about a couple minutes, he would go back to sleep. It was not good. He was also heating up. The man's body was hot to the touch. I would not be surprised if he was fighting off an infection. Enetes was a shaman. He could use magic to heal the man. My compassion for the man outweighed my duty to my lord. At least in my eyes it did. We went straight to the training area and called out for Enetes. He healed the man. It looked so simple. If I could do magic, magic that could heal would be what I studied. He woke up and looked at us in confusion. "Where the hell am I? Who the fuck are you guys!?" he said after a minute of looking around quietly. I smiled at him to show that we were friendly. "We found you on the side of the road and wanted to help. Stay here for a bit. We will be right back." I said softly. Even with the healing, he was covered in scars. Some looked bad.
Under the circumstances, he really did not have a better choice. Where would he go? Betan, Alane and I had to stand before the Swifthunts. Not only did we have to tell him the news, the all of the loot belonged to him. That was the agreement for letting us go in the first place. Court was quickly gathered up to hear it together. Everyone was really happy hear that Sir Betan was the champion that won the big tournament in Count Swifthunt's name. I also got praise for getting to the semifinals. People saw us as older men and knights. We stepped in the capital and took on all the young men. That was a real feat of martial prowess. The members of the audience were less happy to hear that Len was the finalist. He was a person that had no favor here. He was gay and was punished for it. The loot was in the cart and the servants could bring it in. "You have done well. I am pleased with the results of your excursion." Count Swifthunt said with a smile on his face. He seemed to be in a good mood. I looked to Anthony, and he looked happy too. This was not so unheard of, but not very normal. I shrugged.
