It had been two years. But Paige knew she'd get that stone back.
Sarah had hidden it away after their last scuffle, somewhere Paige wouldn't be able to find it, which was exactly what Paige expected. Her game plan was an easy one: play her role, gain Sarah's trust, and when the time was right, snag back the stone and turn everything back to normal. Paige's best guess was that the stone was in Sarah's locker at school. She couldn't get to it because right now she was only 15, old for her grade, but not a high schooler just yet.
That would change soon. It was almost the end of summer, and as an incoming freshman, Paige would be spending full days with her sister: chatting, laughing, primping, and getting her guard down.
It wasn't easy to get to this point, though.
Paige didn't have it easy -- the shopping sprees, multi-course dinners, and tanning by the pool in designer bikinis really took a toll on her. She didn't want to act like this, but over the past two years, the constant "girl-to-girl" chats from her mother combined with Sarah's watchful eyes remade Paige into a perfect mini-McMillan.
That was all going to change soon, she thought, and smiled absently as the sun warmed her skin. Sure, her bikini was Louis Vitton and her sunglasses were Prada, but that didn't mean she cared -- even if she hand-picked them out. It was a means to an end. She could put up with all this hassle if it meant going back to her old house, getting Karyn back, and living her old life again.
And then her alarm went off. Time to flip over.
