Jumping at the chance, I looked at him. "My daughter is a fighter. I've knighted her myself and you've seen what she can do bare handed. She's even deadlier with a bow and arrow. You can assign her to guard any of your daughters and they will be safe. I can guarantee that." He looked her over again. I was silent. It was the moment of truth. "My middle daughter is quite the willful one. There is no party she does not want to attend and no shop she does not frequent. Having a girl like her around will, at the very least, make it so she can play without having to worry about cutpurses or kidnappers." he said. That was one child employed. I then said "Excellent. If you can arrange for her to live with you, that would be fine. She is an attendant knight now." He nodded his head. "I believe a room can be cleared for you. The male servants can crowd in a bit more." he said. That was that. We would wait until she was sent for. Then she would be living with them. As that was the case, it was close to the time that I would be saying goodbye. We went to a tavern to eat and celebrate the victories we had.
Kicking back with Molly and Len was fun. We were all well educated and well trained, so the conversations were never dull. Others began to lean in to hear us speak. As a regular man, my companions being a female knight and a hybrid warrior was pretty striking to some. The more young and rowdy men recognized us all from the big tournament. Rhombus Family was whispered about the tavern. That showed how famous we were becoming. During our meal, we were approached by a pair of haughty nobles. "You think that you provincials are so great, don't you?" one asked us with a nasty sneer. I just looked at them. "We won our matches. That meant that we were better than the competition at least." I said calmly. They narrowed their eyes. Another moment passed before they left. We were not going to take the bait. I raised my children well. When we left, we bumped into someone. It looked like a bookish, thin noble out for a lark. He looked like he was very hurt. That was no good now. I quickly reached down and picked him from the ground. I introduced ourselves to him. He nodded.
