As Gina was settling into her home, Jon had entered his. Karyn had left after he pointed out that he didn't understand how Gina could suddenly be so important to her and yet he'd never met her. He hadn't mentioned how he thought something was going on...clearly whatever was in play was something she was affected by, and couldn't see. And it was tied up with this Gina person.

Jon's house was a two level structure. The first floor had a one-car garage, but his mom usually parked in the driveway. The foyer opened up into the living room. Beyond that was the dining room and kitchen. There was a door in the kitchen out to the backyard. Next to the front door in the corner was the stairs up to the second floor. Jon entered the house, not noticing much until he headed up the stairs. The stairs led to a hallway. At the opposite end of the hallway from the stairs was his Mom's room. On the left was his room, then Zoe's, then Mikey's. On the right was the bathroom that the three kids shared. His mom had a small bathroom in her bedroom.

He was about to turn into his bedroom when he paused, turned, and went to see if Zoe was home. He knocked on her door. No answer. He gently opened the door, and froze. The room was completely empty. No furniture, no clothes...just nothing. He hurried down to Mikey's room. Mikey's room was perfectly normal, but Mikey wasn't there. But if his mom wasn't home, she likely hadn't brought him home yet.

He hurried down the hall, pausing at some of the pictures on the wall. There was a family photo taken two years earlier. He had passed it a dozen times. It had been taken at the local department store. Jon and Mikey dressed in shirts and pants, Zoe looking unhappy about what she was wearing, and their Mom. Except...same picture, but no Zoe.

He grabbed his phone, and tried to call Karyn. But he couldn't find her name in his phone. Karyn was usually at the top of his text chain, but, the last message was from his mother. Nothing from Karyn.

Jon had a very bad feeling.
