"Sure...wouldn't you be?"
Dawn nodded. "So, you're a couple..."
Zoe stared at her. "What are you talking about? Jon and I are just friends..."
Dawn paused. "Oh...sorry, I thought."
Zoe paused, looking at her. "Does everyone think Jon and I are a couple?" She asked, suddenly.
"I'm not sure about everyone, but...you two hang out with each other all the time...I mean, I never see Jon hanging out with anyone else."
Dawn looked at her. "Well, if you ever need to talk," she said, earnestly.
"Talk? I mean...you and I aren't really...umm..."
"Friends?" Dawn said. "Honestly, you don't have to be someone's friend to be friendly."
Zoe looked at her. Zoe had a tough exterior and people didn't exactly just come up to her, or anyone in her experience, and offer to just talk. It felt...weird, but nice. "You're...serious, right?"
"Totally serious," Dawn said. "Maybe you want to hang out with us sometime."
"Us?"
"My friends," Dawn said. "I know I told Jon a few times you two should join us."
