Jane stumbled into breakfast, grumbling a bit, wearing an oversized t-shirt as a nightgown. She was usually a morning person, but she felt exhausted, as if she'd been up late last night.
She slumped into a chair.
"Are you going to help?" Zoe said, calmly. "Or just sit there?"
"I thought you wanted to talk," Jane complained.
Jon, who had put up a pot of coffee, turned. "We're just waiting till we're all here," he said.
Rick stumbled in, wearing a t-shirt and a pair of shorts, and slumped into a chair next to Jane. She glared at him, and he slid the seat over a bit.
"I suppose you've noticed things started out a bit strange this morning," Jon said. "We're not sure what's going on...but we're going to figure this out together." He stood next to Zoe, in front of the two seated adults. Zoe grabbed his hand and squeezed it.
"If that's all you have to say," Jane said, "I'm going to go get dressed."
"I'm sorry you got up on the wrong side of the bed...well, the wrong bed, this morning, but this is happening whether we like it or not. But wait one minute," Zoe said.
Rick looked at both of them. "You two are acting strangely," he remarked.
"Us?" Zoe and Jon looked at each other. "How?" They asked.
"You're getting along.."
"We're kind of in crisis mode, Rick, " Jon said. "That's when families need to pull together."
"You're acting like someone lobotomized you," Jane said.
"Watch it," Zoe cautioned, "or..." She trailed off, realizing she was about to threaten to ground her mother.
Rick looked at them. "What were you going to say?" He asked.
Zoe paused. "If she didn't cool it, I was going to...punish her?" She turned to look at Jon. "What's happening to me?"
