Right at that moment, someone spoke up somewhere near them. The voice sounded very familiar, but what the person said certainly didn't match up with who they thought the owner of the voice was.
"Hey, girls," the voice called out. "Are the trees okay today?"
They turned and got a surprise when they saw the long-haired hippie boy with the colored glasses.
Athena and Margaret nearly did a double-take. As unbelievable as it seemed, the boy that was walking towards them was none other than that studly womanizer jock guy Steve Farber.
"Is this some sort of joke?" Margaret asked. "Do you think this is funny?"
"What are you talkin' about, man?" The way he talked, it almost sounded like he might have been ... high? Steve Farber using drugs? Yeah right. It was probably just him trying to sound like a hippie. Just part of the joke. Well, Athena and Margaret weren't laughing.
"Why are you dressed like a hippie?" Margaret demanded.
"Uh ... because I am one?" he said. Margaret just stared at him. "Dude, you need to like calm down. Hate is like so bad, man. We gotta like be all at peace with our brothers."
Athena and Margaret turned and looked at each other, completely puzzled. Then they were even more puzzled when Steve began smoking. He wasn't faking this. He really was a hippie. But why? Steve Farber wouldn't want to be like this. He hated hippies. So what was going on?
