Athena DeVries made her way through the local park until she spotted her best friend Margaret Wood. Her friend was currently shooing kids away from some of the more endangered trees located in Chesapeake Park. People should really take more notice to the importance of nature. Trees were very important. They provided shade in hot day and they gave homes to animals, but more importantly, they provided oxygen, which was something that people needed. And what do people do with these magnificent creations of nature? They cut them, grind them into pulp, burn them ... they destroy them. It made Athena so pissed off that people could be so cruel towards such innocence. What did a tree ever do to them?
"They didn't damage it, did they?" Athena asked, approaching her friend.
Margaret looked around the trunk of the tree. "No, I don't think so." She grew irritated. "Those stupid kids just don't get it. These trees are endangered. They should show them more respect."
"That's what I love about you, Margaret. Your passion."
Margaret smiled. "At least one person understands."
"Sometimes, I wish there were more people like us around who cared about nature as much as us."
"Yeah," Margaret agreed. "But I think it'll be a long while til that happens."
Unknown to them, it just happened. Because Athena's wish was actually granted. Now, a number of people across town were hippie-like obsessive "tree-huggers" just like Athena and Margaret. And since those people didn't hear Athena's wish, they thought that they were supposed to be like that.
