Hunted by tribal merfolk was not something that I wanted to deal with. People would die if they were killed. I did not want to see my squad members dying for this actual nonsense. I did not want to be bothered and forced into combat scenarios while I was going about my business. Others could be hurt by this too. We were employed by the gang. There was the sushi restaurant and the brothel. I needed to cook and supervise the whores. There was a lot of times that things could go south. What would people say about this? The gang did not need to know that we were merfolk. Merfolk might be normalized, but it was unclear what the gang members would think about it. Of all the things you could say about gang bangers, rational was not really one of them. It might be entertaining to farm bounty hunters for exp. when they arrived. I could see it getting old pretty fast though. There were only so many people from our tribe that would be able to come after us. At the end of the day, we did not even do anything that horrible. Wyne, Steele and I fucked Nabo. Dennis fucked a convert guy.
Everyone in the county had heard the rumors. Eating the flesh of a merfolk granted a human eternal life. Since there was a swell of merfolk living here due to the many conversions, there was a punishment worse than death for those who would even attempt such a thing. This was a different case. This was a bounty hunter from a feral tribe. No one would miss him. He had a water tank in the back of his shop. All of us marveled at just how big it was. I remembered Wyne and Dennis joking about how they would love to swim in it. Coincidentally, I would guess that the bounty hunter was about the same size as them. Sometimes, the restaurant had special guest coming over for some occasion or another. They deserved the freshest fish. It was a tank for keeping live fish until it was time to prepare the meal. The next night, we all were invited to a special meal. He had said we would see him the next day. It was a free day for all of us. Sundays were pretty fun. It was the day we would simply walk around and see what was going on. Getting involved in a random side quest could be funny.
The sushi restaurant had been closed a couple of hours early. There was a lot of fish for a very specific dish though. The owner's whole extended family was there: his 2 loving parents, siblings, children, nieces and nephews as well as those of his beautiful wife. When we got to the meal, it was clear what we were all eating. At least, it was to me. Several people had asked him what was being eaten. The man would deflect and move on to someone else. He was the host, so no one could really pin him down and make him answer. Going to the back would be all that I needed to do to prove what we were eating. That would cause problems. I was very surprised that all 4 of the other merfolk were chowing down without a care in the world. None of them so much as had a question about the meal. Maybe they simply were too dumb or too naïve. In tribal life, you ate what was brought in by those assigned to that task. You did not get a choice in the matter. On the chance that they actually had no clue, I kept quiet. I did not want to ruin this. As soon as I ate my first bite, I got a big notification.
