I could feel a subtle push and pull from the tide of the ocean. Honestly, it was an amazing feeling. So far, Future of Gaming was earning every penny that was spent. Now that I knew it felt so good, I was hooked. There was a euphoric feeling that rose in me whenever I was in a new world. It just felt so nice to be somewhere and someone new. I was getting that feeling here too. That was really nice. I let out a little whoop of enthusiasm. I covered up my mouth as quickly as possible. I did not really want anyone to hear that. I was a bit embarrassing. It also could drag attention to me from negative mobs. I was a very squishy Level 1 Player with no weapons or spells to defend myself with. If I was to get in a fight right at this moment, I would be forced to only use my fists and feet. Punches and kicks were not very effective at my level. It was actually impossible to kick someone without legs. If they had weapons or armor of any type, I was totally screwed here. Luckily, no one came to where I was. I was a alone for now. Realizing that I was in the clear, I sighed in relief. There was a problem.
This setting did not track at all with what I was told by Suzie or what I had read myself in the developers' blogs. The cool water had small fish swimming by coral and the underwater plants were swaying with the motion of the water. This was not a medieval fantasy city. There were no streets with people wearing olden clothes that I saw in the real world. I had to look at the menu and look at where I was. When I saw that I was in an entirely different world, I was upset. "Shit! Where the hell am I then!?" I said as I bit my thumbnail. I looked again and saw that I was in the world of Kittia. This was a world set in modern times. I now had to check the menu and learn more about myself. This would come in handy. I apparently was a young, uninitiated member of the Puraton Clan. We were not that far away from the shore. There was only a couple dozen miles from the shoreline. A small human town was on the coast. We were a whole tribal society complete with a chief, shaman, healer, warriors, and caregivers. It was also said that we had a curse on our clan. It did not say what it was. I would find it.
When starting in a "realistic" setting, the way one would level up was very different than in a big fantasy setting. You cannot just get a weapon and wander beyond the big city limits hoping for mobs to spawn. Police will be called on you if your actions startle the sensibilities of the general public. They were strong at the start and scaled up based on the Player in question. You had to find ways to go advance in the game with your normal means. In the real world, people had jobs and passions. If you wanted to be a fighter, you better go join a gym. If it was allowed, magic came from the sources that you would expect. The Wizard class came from learning how to see and read the Weave of mana in the world. That needed a high Intelligence stat. Warlocks got magic from otherworldly patrons. It need a ton of Charisma. So did Clerics, but it came from deities. Bards also got magic with Charisma. It was channeled from the music they played. Druids got their power from nature. That needed high Wisdom. You could buff the stats a ton of ways. One might be going to school or a library. Or working.
