It was a bloodcurdling scream, the type that only happens if someone was truly afraid. "Zoe? Are you okay?" i asked, genuinely concerned. She still was my sister, after all.
"I'm fine, John. Don't come in" Zoe said. That put me on edge; she had, ever since the discovery of my feminine change. had delighted in girling me up and calling me every combination of sister and Joanna she could think of. Now, after screaming, she was called me John.
"You've been calling me 'Anna' ever since I got home and now you're calling me by my name?" I said "What happened?"
"Nothing. I just having a shower and saw a spider" Zoe said, a little too hurriedly. That did it for me. Something happened and Zoe was covering it up. Normally going into the bathroom when Zoe was showering was a big mistake. I felt this time would be an exception to the unwritten rule.
"Like you said to me yesterday, sis. We're both girls; you do have anything I don't have" I said, throwing her words back at her. I opened the door, and nearly screamed myself the second I saw her.
Zoe was completely different. Rather than her usual black, her hair was now returned to her natural blonde color, something that I knew you would hate immensely. Her arms were crossed over her breasts to prevent me from seeing them, a thing that was completely ridiculous if you considered her legs had been covered with orange colored scales, had merged into a single fishtail, and the loss of her legs had caused her to back backwards into the side of the shower's wall. Mermaid would be the best way to describe Zoe. Zoe's eyes were wide open, a combination of surprise, shock, fear, and now, a real sense of anger. Only one thing could had done this. The stone.
"You?! What have you done to me?!" Zoe snapped, fear and suspicion in her voice.
"Me? I haven't touched the stone. Last time I saw it was when..."
"...I wished for magic powers" Zoe answered for me, her face turning even more horrified as she realized she had done this inadvertently to herself . "Do something, Joanna. You know I hate mermaids!"
"What can I do, 'Ariel'? Don't you think if I could, I would had fixed myself first?" I snapped back. The word 'Ariel' really seemed to incense Zoe.
"I don't know. Maybe you like being a girl. I think it suits you" Zoe snarled.
I knew I had to be peacemaker. Zoe was too much in shock to be rational, and I didn't want to stay here throwing insults until we both got caught. "Okay. Just calm down. Maybe you'll turn back into your normal, corpse-like self if you dry off" I said, tossing Zoe a towel.
