On his way to Karyn's house, Jon got into an accident. He was in such a hurry, he risked jaywalking and ended up getting hit by a car. Fortunately, it wasn't moving very fast, but he was injured enough that he had to be taken to the hospital.
The moment his body hit the ground, he fell unconscious. And when he finally woke up, he was already in a hospital bed.
"What ... what happened?" he asked the nurse.
"You were hit by a car. You're damned lucky to be alive. If that car had been moving any faster, you'd probably be dead."
"How long ..."
"Just under an hour. Your mother has been notified." The nurse walked away.
Jon tried to sit up, but the pain was so bad that he felt like he had been hit by a bus, which wasn't too far off from the truth.
He laid back, still in pain, and said "I wish ..."
